What a wonderful, magical event this was! 12 superb choirs took to the stage, in front of an audience of 1500, at the beautiful King George’s Hall in Blackburn.

2 choirs from all the regional heats came together to compete for the Last Choir Singing 2015 County Trophy.

Every single choir was unique and offered something different to the other choirs. The standard of singing and performance was superb. ‘Stunning’ was the word used by Graham Dow, Headteacher of the winning school, Anchorsholme Primary Academy, in reference to the other choirs. The energy and charm of the children was infectious and they captivated the audience. Norbreck Primary Academy were the Runners-up and both they and Anchorsholme received vouchers worth £500 and £1000 respectively to be spent towards music equipment. These were sponsored by Chorley Building Society, as were the vouchers for the winners of the Heats, and are to be spent at Reidys Home of Music in Blackburn.

Also performing that night were tenors, Jonathan Ansell and Simon Bowman. Simon’s ‘Bring Him Home’ from ‘Les Misérables’ was exquisitely beautiful and Jonathan brought the house down with ‘Nessun Dorma’. They made the choirs feel at ease by joking with them on stage.

But there is no doubt that the night belonged to the children. Once again, as at the heats, we were blown away by their commitment, professionalism and talent, We are so proud of them all!
