The Marine Hall in Fleetwood will be alive with song on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th March 2016 as the best school choirs from across Lancashire take part in the Heats of the prestigious ‘Last Choir Singing’ competition.

Fourteen talented school choirs aged from six to eleven years old will be performing songs in two action-packed evenings. They are competing for the accolade of Heat Winner in the Last Choir Singing competition and the chance to move a step closer to the coveted title of ‘Last Choir Singing 2016 Winner’.

Competing on Thursday 10 March is; Shakespeare Primary School (Fleetwood), Carleton Green Primary School, Kirkham Grammar Junior School, Bowerham Primary School (Lancaster), Our Lady Star of the Sea (St Annes), Carr Head Primary School (Poulton-le-Fylde) and Trumacar Primary School (Heysham).

Lancashire’s top School Choirs

On Friday 11 March St Anthony’s Catholic Primary (Fulwood), Goosnargh Oliverson’s C of E Primary School, Eldon Primary School (Preston), Little Digmoor Primary School (Skelmersdale), Treales CE Primary School and St Marys RC Great Eccleston School, will take to the stage to battle it out with only the very best choirs making it through to the next round, the Grand Final, at King George’s Hall, Blackburn on Friday 17 June.

Anita Shaw, Project Manager for Last Choir Singing said: “Last Choir Singing is a fantastic showcase for the UK’s rich choral tradition and it allows school choirs of all abilities to flaunt their talent. It has tremendous musical variety and I’m looking forward to hearing everything from opera to rock arrangements. Alongside traditional and popular repertoire, I can’t wait to see what’s on show from the schools performing at the Marine Hall!”

The competition is a fantastic way for us to connect with talented choirs across Lancashire and we can’t wait to hear what is on offer from those performing in the heats on the 10th and 11th March.”

In addition to True Bearing Chartered Financial Planners, Last Choir Singing is also supported by Pennine Wealth Solutions, Chorley Building Society and BBC Radio Lancashire. They work in partnership with Lancashire Music Hub, Blackburn with Darwen Music Hub and Blackpool Music Education Service.
